A Selection of Memories from Dobwalls

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Dobwalls

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

I remember long hot summers back then 1960’s playing in Crago’s barn just outside of village and picking primroses down the hill at Treburgy Water with my sister .. we had to fill a basket and then when we got home we had to make them into bunches and tie elastic bands round the stems … I think they were then taken by train to be sold in cities .
Anyone who knows me can get in touch via e -mail janicew83@yahoo.com or by Facebook , bye for now
I grew up in the village and my best friend was Marlene Webber , I remember the infants school with the cherry trees at the bottom of the playground , we were always pinching them ( can't stand them now, probably cos ate so many Ha Ha ! ) Also used to play in Ken Rowes garden, he had a swing and an old train carriage , remember a live band playing there once it was great HAPPY DAYS
When we used to have family holidays in Downderry year after year, we used to have days out in Dobwalls Adventure Park. It was a marvellous place with the old machinery, the 'Crazy Cavern' and of course the trains! They were great days. It is terribly sad to hear that Dobwalls Adventure Park is now shut.
