The road through the village became one of the first turnpike roads in Oxfordshire. As a result, Dorchester ended up with a number of coaching inns, including the 15th-century George Hotel which we see here. It is thought that the inn was once the brew-house of Dorchester Abbey.

I was born in the village and raised by my grandparents. My grandfather was John McPherson who owned the petrol pumps in the centre of the village.
