More about this scene
We can see the stone mullion windows and low doorways of this former almshouse, which was built under the will of Robert Napier in 1616. The lower front has been altered, and the occupiers advertise their wares with metal signs. The old workhouse clock is supported by a decorative stone corbel and corbel bracket. The building beyond was the old Hardye's Grammar School, rebuilt in 1882. The Nappers Mite Coffee Lounge is still trading.
