In this later view, we can see the memorial cross to the parish members who died in World War I in front of the second window from the right. The site of the former shambles, or meat market, is visible between the buildings. Also visible is the gateway to the prison, which features in Thomas Hardy's 'Far from the Madding Crowd'.
