More about this scene
Here we see the western end of the lord's hall following its restoration. The work included relaying the floor with red, black and buff tiles based on the recovered fragments of the originals, and the fitting of oak wall panelling, the screen and the music gallery. It was from here that the portcullis was operated. When Doune was first built there were no interconnecting doorways between the keep-gatehouse and the retainers' hall.
