More about this scene

The children's hats suggest a hot, sunny summer, as they sit outside the pub opposite St Leonard's Church. It was then known as the George and Dragon, but re-christened the Assheton Arms following the elevation of the squire to Lord Clitheroe. Across the valley rises the massive bulk of Pendle Hill, a prominent feature for miles around.
