Little Ealing

A Memory of Ealing.

We moved to Lawrence Road in South Ealing around 1966. My brothers and I went to Little Ealing Primary School (1969- 1977) followed by two more cousins.
Mrs Lodge was my first teacher and I thought she was the most fabulous lady ever. I remember in Infant School we always has to sing All things bright and beautiful before we could eat our lunch. The Headmistress used to come down from her office to play it on the piano in the Hall. Another teacher was Mrs Day.
We moved up to Junior School where Mr Neame was Headteacher. Mrs Bell was music teacher. Teachers I had included Mr Snell, Mrs Bridges, Miss Bonnett. Other teachers Miss Burke, Mrs Templeman. Mrs Frost the "Lollypop Lady" .
I learnt to swim whilst away in Bournemouth on School Journey.
I am still in contact with a few friends from Little Ealing days. Some I see and some through Facebook.
My brothers and I went on to Twyford High School.
I haven't travelled far as now live in Southall, one brother in Brentford and one in Hanwell so we have all remained local.
Lots has changed in Ealing even in 50 years and even now if I go down Lawrence Road I like to stop (if we can find a place to park!) and just look at the house I grow up in and reminisce.

Still love to go to Northfields Avenue to Parkers the Bakers.

Comments & Feedback

I had forgotten that I had written about my early years in Little Ealing days but a few weeks ago my memory was seen by a friend from Little Ealing school and today we meet up for lunch. Over 40 years to catch up on. Lovely seeing Yasmin and really hope we stay in touch. Thanks to this site x
