Youngs Bakers And Saint Saviours

A Memory of Ealing.

I went to Saint Saviours around approx 1967/1968. We used to live at Number 6, Webster Gardens. My grandparents used to own Youngs Bakers which was opposite Ealing Studios and my father and his brother used to do the early morning bread delivery rounds on their bikes! Does anyone remember the baker shop? I burnt my finger on the iron one day and my father took me to Gunnersbury Park and hired a boat out so that I could dangle my burnt finger in the water. I live in Nice in France now and sadly my grandparents are no longer alive, however, my father (Karl Young) and his brother (Ernie Young) are still alive and kicking.

Actually, thinking about it, did your family own the bakers back in the 50's. My Mum used to work in Ealing studios, I presume in canteen or something. I still live in Ealing Common
Hi, yes they did. The closed the shop up in the 90s if I remember correctly. Its a small world really.
sorry for delay, thanks for reply. Did you know a family at 52 Webster Gdns, 2 sisters (prob born around 1955) Susanne (or Suzanne) and Kirsten (or Kirsty). I would love to catch up with them. Suzanne was an aspiring actress at the time.
It definitely is a very small world! Our family lived at 6 Webster Gardens from 1940 or 41 until we came to Canada in 1946. My Dad died during the war and my Mum rented all the bedrooms out to Canadians. They were supposed to be 8 girls but the truck left her 8 men! She married one of them and that is how we ended up on Vancouver Island. I also went to St. Saviours. (I was born in Beaconsfield in 1935) Would love to hear from you. My daughters and granddaughters have been back to look for #6 but couldn't find it. I can't find it on Google Earth either!
