More about this scene

The village sits high above the flood plain of the Medway. This peaceful scene shows the 14th-century five-arched ragstone bridge, which is considered by some to be the finest in the south-east. Violent and unhappy events took place here in earlier times, however. Cromwell's men marched across the bridge on their way to capture Maidstone from the Royalists. At St Mary's Church, on the hill, there is a cross commemorating 43 hop pickers who died of cholera in 1849.

Stamping in puddles was fun, but today I had something much more ...see more

Does anyone have any information regarding Robert Horace Chilton or Nora Gwendoline Ashlee who lived at Lone Cottage in 1953. They had a young daughter (Linda) and a baby ( Robin). Robin was later adopted. We only lived there a very short time. I am trying to research my family tree. Please help. You are so lucky to live in a beautiful part of the country
