Surviving 17th-century cottages (centre) stand opposite White Lodge Gate which is the main entrance into the grounds of Lulworth Castle. Almost all of the remainder of the original village was cleared and its community moved eastwards, for the creation of Lulworth Park between 1753 and 1785.
