7 Palewell Park, East Sheen Sw14

A Memory of East Sheen Common.

I was the only member of the family actually born at home in this house on 7th April 1959.
I still have vivid memories of the old house, including the old garage at the end of the garden as it had an old maroon car (not sure of the model), but it belonged to my Uncle Roger Langton.

I can recall the old scullery with the Belfast sink and the cold store.

There was an old attic with an access door very high up and my Grandmother Dororthy Langton was the last person in the family to live there, until she got dementia and had to move into our new house in Twickenham around 1970.

The trees outside have grown much larger, but the old alleyway still appears to be out the back.
There were many cars in the street then, my Grandmother used to drive an old Riley, I remember getting my fingers caught in the door jam as the door was closed, crushing my fingers. I was about 2-3 years old then.

We used to have a neighbour opposite whose was a midwife, she was the one who brought me into the world.
