Station Master.

A Memory of Eastleigh.

My Grand dad Mr Albert Beck was station master through my young child hood in the 50s and we lived at 2 Market Street Right opposite the Parish church, until mum and dad got a prefab at the Hundred when I was 3.
The roads are so empty to what I see these days.Behind the Market street house was a coal yard and I remember a horse neighing and Nan's cat sitting on the wall with the horse looking over.
Torbocks was the supermarket to go to.I went to Cranbury Rd school then on to Chamberlayne Road
girls school.I remember the Brownies and Guides in Derby Rd school.Memories flood back so easily!!!!
I could almost write a book but then so could so many of us :-)
I had a great childhood in Eastleigh and Velmore Estate where I moved with my parents when I was 13.The prefabs were pulled down at this time.I then went on to North End school in Leigh Rd.

Hi Lorna, was very pleased to get your post so quickly and to answer your question yes I knew the Jenvey brothers and their father Jack, My Father played in a band in the 50s and 60s and Jack Jenvey was their manager so he was almost family ,
I was born at 26 the Hundred and we moved to Maple square off Pasfield road. . When I was at North end there was a girl who came from another school and her name was Lorna , I think she lived in Devon drive . Do you remember Sandy Monkton , Keith greaves and Chris Pawlak they all were in my year . regards Steve
