Ballroom Dancing

A Memory of Eccles.

I used to go to ballroom dancing classes in rooms above the Broadway cinema in or around 1962. I would have been 10 or 11. I learned the waltz and the quickstep, both at a very basic level. At the end of the course, we took an exam . I can remember being very embarrassed as I had to dance with the examiner, who was a very tall man in evening dress. I was so flummoxed, I forgot everything I had been taught, but he was a true professional and must have led me well, because I passed! I still have the certificate and medal somewhere!
