I Was Born In Eccles In 1951
A Memory of Eccles.
I was born in The Park off Gilda Brook Road in 1951 and went to Eccles Parish School then on to Ellesmere Park secondary school, Mr Bingham was the headmaster when I was first at Eccles Parish then Mr Norcross was the headmaster, MissThomas was teacher in the infants and was only very small. On the site of the school now is a Vauxhall garage called Perry`s.My elder brother is Billy Jackson, and I am Malcolm Jackson, I remember the names David Payne and David Parkinson. In the winter we had to walk up The Park onto Gilda Brook Road then past all the little shops, the Tuck Shop which sold sweets to the crossing facing the toy shop then pet stores run by Mr. Roberts then walk up Wellington Road past The Boulevard where were several old shops and a sweet shop that sold Kaylai which was basically coloured sugar, then we would turn left down Albert Street to the gates of the School, it seemed to take ages to walk it especially in the winter. Has anyone got any photo`s of this area would be appreciated.

If I remember correctly your mum was called Sheila and she was very kind to us after our Mum died. My mum was Constance or Connie as most people called her.
I went to Clarendon Road Primary School and then onto Ellesmere Park.
