Some of the county's most beautiful scenery can be seen in the Wealden region of Sussex. From the Lovers' Seat, linked with a romantic legend of the 18th century, the view overlooking the sea near Hastings is possibly one of the most picturesque. It was here that two lovers secretly met. Their stolen interludes led to a clandestine marriage, just before they both tragically died.
