I have a pic of my twin sis Jenny and a paint-brush, it's 1959, she's nearly 8, glossing skirting in the middle kitchen (there were 3). Until it was habitable we used to travel weekends from Sutton ('The Dormers'', No1 Devonshire Avenue, now a school) 441 from Staines, before mum had a car... I remember walking from home on the britwell estate to school at St Anthony RC Primary or to st Anthony RC church walking past Travis court now a private housing development and past the village hall with Farnham royal men's club on The side (the gay club) then the cottages .then the three pubs the jolly butchers The crown .and the dukes head .and in the middle off the road was the pump On the left was the war ...see more
I was at Farnham Park in 1975, at that time there was quite a few sportsman there. one or to who spring to mind Dave Bedford the runner who on occasion would in the evening run down to the fish shop and bring back fish and chips still piping hot much to the annoyance of of the staff. Paul Cheesly who i believe played football for Bristle City, he instigated the great escape to a disco in Bernham Beaches after lights ...see more
I was there for 6 weeks in 1966 or 1967, recovering from a car crash which badly damaged my right arm. Had lessons on how to become left-handed!! Remember the pool, slipped and had a fall which for some reason got the staff very worked up. Went home for the weekend and after a couple of weeks decided to drive back on the Sunday night in my 1932 MG J2 2 seater sports car. Had to hide it from the staff by pushing it ...see more
