I went to live in Findern in 1967,my first home after getting married in Crewe in Cheshire. My then husband and I had got jobs at Rolls Royce in Derby. I have very fond memories of the village then. We lived in a newish three bedroomed bungalow on a small estate,which had open farmland beyond our largish back garden, and I think we paid about £2895 for such a lovely place. Dear Mr Lord, My sister Jean Marie Church and I, Marie Elizabeth Church, attended Findern School for four years plus during the Second World War. I was almost 7 years old, my sister almost 6 years old. As I recall, Miss Cassandra Sanders was Head Teacher. She was my mentor, friend and companion.
