Early Childhood

A Memory of Findochty.

I went to school in the village at the top of the brae, it's been knocked down and houses built. The harbour used to be full of local fishing boats, now its full of leisure boats. There used to be a station there but thats gone. Have very happy memories of the freedom we had growing up then and wandering over the golf course and going along the cliffs to Stathlene, we used to live in the house thats right on the beach there, then moved into Findochty. I also remember collecting seagulls eggs and blowing them out, wouldn't do that now. We used to go in the cave down on the beach which we thought was very brave but going back to look at it now it was really more like a grotto and not very deep at all. When ever there was a wedding at the church up on the hill all the children went to see it because the Groom used to throw pennies for the children to catch. Happy Days.
