Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

60's Frimley

A Memory of Frimley.

Memories of Frimley back in the early sixties. I worked at Southern Instruments on Frimley Road and the first telephone answering machine was developed on site (the machine was the size of a small suitcase).
There was a record shop in the High St where we used to go as soon as we got paid on a Friday and purchase all the latest singles, mainly Cliff Richard.
Do you also remember the large hotel that was opposite the White Hart on the corner which was demolished to make way for the shopping parade.
Fond memories growing up in the area; Rock n Roll at the Agingcourt followed by a burger down the road.
Sunday afternoon, coffe bar up the ramp in Camberley followed by the Cinema.
Great days.

My dad worked Ansafone on the Frimley Road. They did make the telephone answering machine. Remember the Agincourt well as well as Pantiles in Camberley. Happy Days.

The burger bar was called The Virginian. It became a real bikers place. There used to be an old disused music hall further up the A30 towards the post office. It had little glazed shopfronts as you entered it. Inside was a Victorian facade with a balcony above, all demolished in the 1970s. Does anyone remember camberley Kate.

We lived in 7 Sturdee close must have been from 1961 and left in 1968 we moved to Australia always remember great times at Frimley. Keith

I remember Camberley Kate with all her dogs and her push cart., through the 50's. 60's and 70's.She lived in a house at the Blackwater end of the London Road. Kate Ward was World Famous and there are many references to her on the web. I used to work in an office above a shop on the London Road, and I remember watching her almost daily round trips along the London Road to the town centre of Camberley with at least a dozen dogs. She had an uncanny control of the many dogs that accompanied her.

I remember the record shop, I would make a bee line for it every time I had some spare pocket money. I think it had little cubicles with headphones where you could listen to snippets of tracks you were interested in. I lived at 20 Sturdee Close from 1961 until late 1963 not long but those were formative years. Went to school at the Grove then Francehill first the Annex then the senior school before moving to Australia mid 1964. Lots of teenage memories.
