Frome, Cheap Street 1964

More about this scene
This street's name comes from the Anglo-Saxon 'cepin', meaning a 'place of trade', and here its shops include opticians, tobacconists, dry cleaners, book and toy shops and the Crusty Loaf bakers with its loaf sign. The central stream maintains the medieval character whilst the arched lamp holder was one of several erected in the 1890s.
