More about this scene

The gigantic white 'golf balls' of the Fylingdales Early Warning System were a landmark on the eastern side of the North York Moors National Park for many years, before being replaced in the 1990s with a truncated pyramid which served the same function. The end of Communism has made these intrusive symbols of the Cold War virtually redundant.
