Nostalgic memories of Georgeham's local history

Share your own memories of Georgeham and read what others have said

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our web site to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was when the photographs in our archive were taken. From brief one-liners explaining a little bit more about the image depicted, to great, in-depth accounts of a childhood when things were rather different than today (and everything inbetween!). We've had many contributors recognising themselves or loved ones in our photographs.

Why not add your memory today and become part of our Memories Community to help others in the future delve back into their past.

The Bishops family were in charge and they were a lovely family. The Elizabethan nights were great fun for the guests. If anyone remembers this I have some photos of the time I worked there of the family and all the staff. Also a photo of the little 3 wheeler my friend and I bought - "bubbles" we called it. We had to leave it at the manor though due to no licence and no insurance but it was great fun at the time, getting us all up and down that hill.
I was evacuated to Croyde and would walk to school in Georgeham every day. I stayed at a house called Watersmeet with a family named Rogers, daughter Pat. I remember at school we would listen to the radio. I particularly remember Bunyon's 'Pilgrim's Progress' being read on the BBC. The introductory music was 'The Trumpet Voluntary' by Purcell. I do not remember the name of the school.
