St Johns Grave Yard.
A Memory of Goldenhill.
I was in Mrs Machins class at Goldenhill C of E school during this year and our class room was in the grave yard. We were asked one afternoon to do a fire drill and we would have to leave via a door in the back of the room leading to and through the graveyard. There had been rumours of Molly Leigh (Burslem witch) being buried there, and people walking through and getting their legs grabbed from beyond the grave. Oh my word, what were we to do, so a group of 9 year old girls ran screaming for their lives to the drive between the school and church, while the boys laughed and walked faster than normal and Mrs Machin, who could shout for England, yelled at us to shut up, oh to be 9 again xx Tina Griffiths
