More about this scene
Goodmanham lies around 2 miles north-east of Market Weighton, and its history dates back to the Stone Age. It is one of the oldest religious sites in the country, and was once the centre of pagan worship in the north of England, with a temple dedicated to the god Woden. The church was built in Norman times, and the squat tower was given its belfry and battlements in the 15th century.
