Hello to my fellow Fedsden inmates, whoever and wherever you are now! So nice to find things like this online these days ... I was a boarder at Parndon Hall between about 58 and 61 - stupid gangly blond kid, with my younger sister Heather, and our mum, who was some kind of house mistress before moving on to Kingsmoor. I can hardly remember any names, except Regina (very tiny) and Adolphus (very funny) and the ...see more
Well, I would like to bring a little history of our wonderful school in St Leonards back to life with the real colour and warmth of the time when I was there in the early sixties. First I would like to acknowledge the memory of Mr. and Mrs. Redfarn who owned the school at that time, and their lovely adult daughter, who was a matron there, she was ...see more
Hello all I am looking for information regarding Toddbrook Farm Harberts Road formally Hare Street. and would appreciate any information or photos etc. Regards George.
The Morris Minor in the photograph looks like my father's first car. He lived and close by In Cock Green till around 1997. I believe I was was driven about in that car as a baby. I am now 51.
I am trying to research for my Father who is 90 years old. Does anybody remember or have any details of a FARM called LITTLE CANNON'S somewhere in Parndon. It was owed by my grandparent's Mary Pearson Chessell and Frederick Henry Chessell. He was known for making a lot of farms bankrupt and originally came from Isle of Wight. I have managed to find most farms and taken photo's but have so far been ...see more
I would like to share with you some of my early childhood memories of my formative years in Parndon, including places and names that might evoke similar memories to myself. I hope you will bear with me, as I will probably go on a bit. I'll start off by mentioning my grandparents, Bill and Daisy Conyard, who lived at No.4 Hare Street. They moved into this house shortly after the end of WW1. They had four ...see more
Hello to all. I was born to Irish Parents who lived in Essex in 1956. My birth is registered from Club Cottage, Kingsmoor Road, Great Parndon in Essex. My Mum was a caretaker and assistant at a Girls school, that year. Rose Murphy (nee McGettigan) and Philip Murphy were my parents. Have a few photos of that time but would really appreciate any pictures from that area and era. Lovely to see everyones recollections..Bless..Rose
I also attended Fedsden school, when the now hospital was our grounds. Beautiful paintings on the ceilings and we used to explore the tunnels under the building. Have been trying to contact Bridget Castel. Her family lived on the Isle of White. Great memories.
I attended the junior school, but slept at the senior school. I have wonderful memories, especially of the eyes of the paintings that followed one if one wanted to go to the loo at night.
I also went to Fedsden at Parndon Hall, but quite a bit later (around 1963), as a boarder. Great happy memories of this place. Remember Mrs Clare very well and though she seemed a bit severe I liked her a lot. Fabulous old house with painted ceilings, rambling old grounds and woods, and outside ramshackle buildings used for domestic science and woodwork. Happy, happy days :)
