Great Yarmouth, Royal Aquarium 1895

More about this scene
Originally the Royalty, this building was a leisure complex in 1875, with a skating rink, aquarium, bars and restaurants. A huge budget of £50,000 was provided for the building, but only half was used, and it was never completed. It opened as an aquarium in 1883, but this was also unsuccessful; today it is a cinema. The façade is constructed in gault brick from Costessey, a village just outside Norwich.
