More about this scene
There were busier days here before the mines closed around the turn of the century. To the right, Newbridge Hill descends to the Tamar crossing into Devon, with a large chapel on the bend. Bond's Hotel advertises good stabling, with John Henry Whitford's grocer's shop in front, in contrast to the Tavistock Hotel's rather faded sign on the right.
