Hailsham, High Street c.1965

More about this scene
For this 1960s view, Frith's photographer is looking north from the upper floor of the quite new Woolworth's towards the horse chestnut trees edging Parsonage Field - they screen the Comrades Club seen in view H6049 (page 26). The trees have now gone, and the Vicarage Fields shopping precinct opens up the streetscape. The Boots shop (this side of the trees) is now the Tendring Garden, a florist's and gardening shop, and Cruttendens, the radio and TV shop (right), is still in that line as Clear View, a TV and rental shop.
