Happy Days

A Memory of Harrow Weald.

My name is Alan Creek and I grew up at number 208 Carmelite Rd. It was a brand new council house and we move there in 1946. My first school was Pinner National which was a stop gap because the new Chantry Juniors was still under construction. Eventually it was completed and the first intake was transferred to Chantry Juniors. During my time at Chantry I played in the football team as Goal Keeper. Other members of the team were as follows:-
John Trodden, David Bargery, Roger Paler, Donald Grainger, Kenneth Paler, John Cowlishaw, Barry Chuter, Brian Gross, David King (Capt), Jeffery Clark & David Pike. The Head Master was Mr Reid and Deputy Head was Mr Hart. I do have a photograph of the team if anyone would like a copy.
In early 1952 I attended Blackwell Secondary Modern where I enjoyed my time especially athletics, although not very good. I enjoyed the summer holidays mostly swimming or visiting two school friends Margaret and Vivienne who lived at brockhurst Corner. Eventually I left school to join British Railways as an electrical apprentice. I only ever saw one of the girls (Vivienne Thorn) once when we passed on an escalator at Baker Street, sad but that's life.
