Although the window might be Spartan, no shortage of signs advertise the shop's presence. The nearby church was founded above the cell of a 12th-century hermit, Wulfric, who renounced his noble birth and wore chain-mail in penance. Known for his wisdom, he divined Stephen's accession to the throne, and after his death, his grave became a focus for pilgrimage.
