Haywards Heath, The Sergison Arms c.1960

More about this scene
Within sight of the war memorial stands the Sergison Arms, the oldest pub in Haywards Heath: it dates from the 16th century, when it was the home of John Vynall (who died in 1599). It became an inn in the 18th century, when it was called the Dolphin, possibly because dolphins form part of the Sergison family`s coat of arms. The inn was renamed the Sergison Arms in 1845, but it reverted back to the Dolphin during the 1990s when the premises were remodelled and upgraded to modern standards. It is certainly a very popular and attractive venue.
