Franklin @ Barnes Bridge St

A Memory of Hereford.

I was an office boy at Franklin Barns. One of my jobs on a Wednesday was to go the cattle market and collect messages that where left in desks of the back room of The Market Tavern. It was a wonderful place; farmers, drovers, sheep dogs all doing business (not the dogs!) I can remember taking Cyril Franklis tea every morning at 10.30 in his office where he had a model of the new Franklin Barns building to be constructed in Commercial Road. Franklin Barns has gone and now so has the Old Cattle Market...they were wonderful days, I will never forget.
