More about this scene

Little has changed in the intervening eleven years since photograph No 71851 was taken, although more motor vehicles are evident and a double decker bus makes an appearance in the distance. Neale's general store and Dunn's shoe shop are the most prominent emporiums. Within the next decade, the outbreak of the Second World War will necessitate the removal of the statue above the roof of the Corn Exchange to a place of safety.

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

I'm trying to find out about the chemist in Fore Street, it is called Sheriffs now, but I was told it used to be an inn and I would like to know the name of it, and any more info on the building. Thank you.
