More about this scene

Situated in woodland near the Midhurst to Cocking road, the Cobden Monument was erected in memory of Richard Cobden MP, an advocate of free trade and an anti-Corn Law agitator. With the funds of the National Testimonial to him, he purchased and re-built Dunsford House, his birthplace, which was presented to the Liberal Party in 1924 by his daughter.
