I well remember Percy and Sylvia Knight at the Chad. Two of the nicest people you could ever meet. Great nights when along with Phill Eccleston on keyboards, I would sing in the pub. Sometimes all the band, Blue Serge, turned up. I always had to sing a song called "this song's just for you" for Sylv and later Percy, and a tape of me singing it was even played at his funeral. Wonderful memories, all seems along time ago now in another lifetime. Len Tiso
Hi, I bet anyone who lived on the Pear Tree from the 50's to the 80's knew the Hyson family on Coppice Road. What a wonderful life it was living on the Pear Tree. We never had much as kids coming from a family of 7, but we had lots of fun playing with all the miners kids from all over the estate. I knew just about everone on the Pear Tree. Spent my childhood years from the age of nine living in the pub with mum and dad, Sylvia and Percy Knight. Good times.

He used to own Fox's shop just over the bridge in Handsacre with my nan (Nellie Fox), a Knight by maiden name which is a well ...see more

Hill Ridware was my first school to which we went by road by the Chadwich Arms, or down a long pathway by the smithy (opposite the Royal Oak). Next to the Cadwich Arms was a farm. We used to watch the cattle come in for milking. My grandfather owned the row of houses opposite the ...see more
My old school which myself and brother attended the good old days. This photo was taken from where I live now.
I am searching for a Charles & Hugo Mavesyn Chadwick. Charles Chadwick died c1820 and Hugo Chadwick died in 1854. I notice that the name of the public house in Hill Ridware is the Chadwick Arms. Does anyone have any history of this pub and why it was given this name and of the Chadwicks of Mavesyn Ridware? Betty Ashton (nee Chadwick)
