More about this scene
The large building, centre left, is the old Town Hall, with the Library and Mechanics' Institute to its left (now Council offices). The New Town Hall is opposite, but it is not visible in this picture. The Quaker burial ground is at the centre of the picture, beneath the banner advertising a sports display at Woodside. On the right-hand-side are Latchmore's grocers, the Dog, the Methodist Chapel, and the Post Office. Note the decorative chimneys, right.
