Who Owned Holcrof/Risley Moss?
A Memory of Holcroft Moss.
My mother Lucy Collins, long deceased, once told me that her family once owned Risley Moss and therefore I assume Holcroft Moss. Also the land on which the prison was built.
Also, strangely, she said Maria Holcroft married Captain (Colonel) Blood. There is something that seems to confirm this in Culcheth Parish Church.
Don't know much more as she didn't talk about her family very much.
