More about this scene

The Church 1890. The village lies inland from Hastings; its medieval church of St Leonard is isolated away from the houses among the trees. The church, with its tile-hung bell turret, is very typical of the small, aisleless churches of Sussex. It was dearly loved by Charles Lamb, who called it 'my little Protestant Loretto'.

A Selection of Memories from Hollington

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our website to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was, prompted by the photographs in our archive. Here are some from Hollington

Sparked a Memory for you?

If this has sparked a memory, why not share it here?

My ancestors were Romany gypsies around Hollington and the surrounding areas. True Romany folk living off the land, who were well respected in the area. If anyone thinks they have gypsy blood from this area I'd love to hear from you. rebekahm28@aol.com
