Abbotts Court Farm
A Memory of Hoo.
A story as told by my mother.
My mother lived in Abbotts Court Farm as a child. My grandfather was a farm tenant. Mum told us that that there were tunnels in the house that led directly to the church but they were never allowed down there. She told me there was always something a little strange about the house which was very imposing.
About ten years ago I visited Hoo and spoke to someone who lived in the house, I told him mum used to live there and he informed me that light bulbs used to explode for no apparent reason and there were a few unexplained goings on in the house. I asked him about the tunnels and he informed me that they were now blocked off due to flooding. Mum often wondered if some smuggling went on in times past. My grandmother and great grandparents are buried in the church.
