Horning, Horning Broad 1902

More about this scene
The flat landscape of the Broads is broken by windmills, church towers, or the masts of sailing boats. This area is a haven for all wildlife, but it is also a favourite haunt for flight-shooters who have taken many rare birds; some of which are on display in Norwich museum. At times the local Inns were kept busy with as many gunners as anglers. The Ferry Inn used to have a splendid male Bittern shot by the landlord; this breed of bird has now virtually disappeared from Broadland.
