Hunstanton Pier opened on Easter Sunday 1870 with a length of 830 feet. Paddle-steamers ran across the Wash to Skegness pier a year after the latter structure was built. A pavilion, described as being 'handsome and commodious' in a 1907 guide book, was added later.
