The Belgrave was built in 1884 on Wilder Road by W M Robbins, who also designed the Royal Clarence Hotel and some villas in Torrs Park. An early advertising slogan for the Belgrave was `Sanitary Arrangements Perfect`, probably chosen to counter the memory of the cholera outbreak earlier in the century. The Belgrave is now the Berkeley Hotel.

I thought you would like to know that this hotel belonged to my father's side of the family, as well as the St Agness which was next door. My grandfather, Frank Price, was also a member of the life boat. My great auntie also ran a dance studio and was a known artist.
