More about this scene
This is the most spectacular house in Ipswich, redesigned c1670 by the Sparrow family. The first floor has oriel windows, in the centre of which are the arms of Charles II. The plasterwork under each window represents Europe, Asia, Africa and America, the latter with a tobacco pipe. In 1899 the house was occupied by Frederick Pawsey, printer and bookseller.
