Kilmington, The New Inn c.1960

More about this scene
Most of East Devon's public houses are extremely ancient, and have served as places of refreshment for centuries. Travellers on the high road between Dorchester and Exeter would have turned off the trail to seek shelter in the New Inn, which is older than its name suggests. Notice the 'car for hire' sign in the window (left).
