The Kingsbury pool was large by municipal standards, and it was situated on the edge of Roe Green Park. The Art Deco buildings were elegant and stream-lined, but along with so many other outdoor pools all over Britain it has been demolished; this is partly due to an ever-decreasing interest, but perhaps mainly through the advent of the oh-so-comfortable fitness centre.

Yes there was a swimming pool and I remember how cold it was !! I attended Kingsbury County Grammar School (as it was then) from 1956 -1961 Susan Edwards
No way did there used to be a lido in the park! Its such a shame its not there anymore because now the closest swimming pool to kingsbury high school is in harrow and its an indoor. If it was still there im certain it would be packed every single warm day with kids from my school
My father discovered Kingsbury Pool when working nearby in the fifties. He then regularly took my brother and me to to the pool at weekends. It was a long trip from Pimlico but always worth it.
There were several modern dance venues which we regularly frequented, including The Ritz Ballroom which once stood at the junction of the Kingsbury Road and the western end of the Old Kenton Lane, and the Churchill Club which stood in Elmwood Avenue at the junction of the Kenton Road.
