More about this scene
Overlooking the fascinating village green from the direction of Dakyn House (1678), we see the parish church of St Peter and St Felix, which itself looks out over the remains of Ravensworth Castle. Dakyn House is named after the Reverend Doctor John Dakyn, founder of the grammar school (far right) and the almshouses. This enclosed square contains the well-preserved original village built around the old Manor House. The church clock was replaced in 1921 by another in memory of the villagers who fought in the First World War.
