The Ling, Kirstead
A Memory of Kirstead Green.
My grandmother ,Bessie Deadman, lived in No.43 The Ling, Kirstead and I spent many happy holidays there playing in the orchards and meadows. My grandfather, Alfred Deadman, was killed in WW1 and his name is honoured in St. Margaret's Churchyard. I remember taking lunch in a basket to my uncle who was working in the fields during the harvest. I used to go and help collect pails of water from the well at the end of The Ling. There was a farm there with pigs that I remember. This would have been during the 50's. Does anybody remember Bessie Deadman?
