More about this scene

Though perilously close to being engulfed by Solihull, Knowle manages to hang on to its own distinct character. Something of its former village quality remains, and it is still bordered by open countryside - something that not many towns in this county can claim. Knowle was first recorded around 1200, but its name is Saxon, so it must have been founded long before that.

Knowle Window Cleaners
My Mother, brother and I arrived in the Knowle and Dorridge area about 1941, being evacuated from London during World War Two.My Father had remained in London,. At first we were billeted in a large house opposite the Dorridge Cricket Ground, the owner of the house was very nice. Pickerings Antique Shop
I have lived in Knowle for most of my life,I went to Knowle School before Arden School was built. The Rev. Sharpe was the vicar and took us for history lessons about the church. I also learnt to play the piano with Miss Muriel Mawbey in her studio situated in an old bungalow type building at the back of Chester House Antiques. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
