Laindon, King Edward Road c.1960

More about this scene
The grid-like pattern of the streets west of Laindon High Road preserves the layout of some of the early plotland estates. The tarmac, however, is a far cry from the 'wilderness of slime and ooze' that once characterised these side-roads. Some of the street names capture the spirit of the age: King Edward, New Century, Victoria.
