More about this scene
Court Lodge was the home of the lord of the manor. This Jacobean building was owned by the Morland family, who had a long-standing connection with the Indian Army; the Lodge held many mementoes of the days of the Raj. Shooting parties were a feature of life at Court Lodge. Local people would join the estate staff for a day of beating, and enjoy the beer and pies supplied.
